Iran: Shiraz to Yazd

Today we traveled to Yazd. Along the way we made a few stops. The first was Pasargadae, which was the tomb and palace complex of Cyrus the Great, which dates back to 550 BCE. After yesterday's ruins of Persepolis, we were all a bit underwhelmed...

Next, we stopped at an abandoned 17th century caravanserai, where we had a picnic lunch. We continued on to a small town in the desert to view the old school ice storage building (it's the cone looking building), then looked at a 5000 year old cypress tree, then were back in the van for the rest of the drive to Yazd, which is in the desert. It will be interesting to explore tomorrow! For the next two nights we are staying in a renovated caravanserai, complete with a stream inside!!!
