So, Mom and I arrived on time in Amsterdam, blew through passport control and customs, then took the train to Amsterdam Centraal and walked to my apartment. It was still too early in the morning to check into Mom's hotel, so we got settled for a bit, took a little bit of a nap, and then hit Amsterdam running. We walked around town, hit the Dam Square, did some shopping, walked through the Red Light District, saw the Oudekerk and the Nieuwkerk, the Royal Palace, the Magna Center, and eventually got Mom checked into her hotel, where I took a shower because I still don't have hot water at my apartment. We then had another walk and had some dinner, then called it a night since we were tired and still a bit jet lagged. The following morning, we had breakfast, got Mom checked out of her hotel, then back to my apartment so we could pack everything up for our safari. Once we were all packed, we went walking. I showed her the University of Amsterdam and where I went to school, had lunch, then stopped at the flea market on the Waterlooplein. We walked back towards the Nieuwkmarkt, stopping at the Zuiderkerk on the way. It was kind of rainy, so we stopped back at my apartment for a little bit, then had dinner and made our way to the airport, where we stayed at the hotel there since we had an early morning flight the following morning. We got all checked in, watched Evita on tv (with German subtitles...), and then tried to sleep, although we were both son excited about the trip to Africa that we didn't sleep all that well. Then it was up for breakfast, then packing everything back in the bags so we could check out and walk to the airport to get checked in for our flight. Now we are waiting for our flight to board. I am so excited about going on safari! Kenya and Tanzania, here we come!!!
