Last Safari Day in Amboseli National Park: Last Game Drive

At 4pm, we headed to the vehicle to start our last game drive in Amboseli National Park. This is the smallest of the parks we are going to visit, and I feel we have seen most of it at this point, but since it is as small as it is, it has a nice concentration of a lot of different types of animals in a relatively small area. As we set out this afternoon, we headed in a direction we hadn't been before. We saw many of the usual suspects, but we also saw tons of babies! Baby hippos and baby elephants were my favorite! Unfortunately the picture of the hippo isn't very good... By the time I realized it was a baby hippo, it had already moved behind a patch of grass... You can see it's mother right behind.

There was the cutest baby elephant that Dennis said must be less than four months old. It was trying its hardest to pull up grass, but most of the time, it was just moving its trunk and coming up with no grass at all... It was too precious!

After driving around some more, we eventually came to an observation area, where we climbed up a large hill to have a birds-eye view of the park. I took a few pictures of the area as the sun started to set.

It was such a great spot, we decided to take a group picture!

We also took one with our incredible guide, Dennis!!!

When we eventually climbed back down the hill, our driver, Martin, had set up a bar for us to enjoy as we watched the full moon rise over the plains and Mt. Kilimanjaro.

We enjoyed a few cocktails. I tried "Kenya Cane" which is the local version of rum, mixed with Diet Coke. It was very nice! After drinks, we piled back into the car and came back to the lodge where a delicious dinner awaited us! It will be hard to say goodbye to this gorgeous place tomorrow, but we leave Kenya for Tanzania tomorrow, and that will be exciting!
