Vietnam: Ha Long Bay

Today I was up for a drive from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay. The drive took about 3.5 hours, but we stopped a couple of times along the way. The scenery was nice.

When we arrived at Ha Long Bay, we went directly to the port where tons of boats were waiting to take tourists to see the UNESCO World Heritage sites located in the bay. There were hundreds of people waiting to get on various boats. I was hoping that the one I got on wasn't too crowded. My guide told me to wait for about 10 minutes because the boat we were on was just coming into the dock and had to unload its passengers. When the time came to board, I was the only one on the ship. Nice. We floated around the bay, taking in the gorgeous limestone islands. We also stopped at two caves on one of the islands. It was gorgeous!

We then came back and did a driving tour of the small town. We then checked into the hotel for the night. I had some downtime, had supper and am calling it an early night since I have to be all checked out by 6:30 tomorrow morning!!!
