Vietnam: Hue

This morning I was up before the sun for the drive back to Hanoi and my flight to Hue. We stopped once along the way at a handicraft market and I ended up buying silk pajamas for my niece and nephew. We continued on to the airport, got all checked in for the flight, and had an uneventful flight to Hue. We were met by my driver and taken to check into the hotel. As it was nearing 1:30 and I hadn't had anything to eat since 6, I grabbed a quick bite to eat at the hotel and then got my laundry ready to take to a place in town to be cleaned.

We dropped my clothes off, and then continued on a tour of the citadel in town. Hue was the capital of Vietnam from 1800-1945, and in that time the king built a huge walled city, with very strong Chinese influence. There's even a forbidden city in there! We walked all along the huge citadel, checking out palaces, homes, shrines, etc. after the long walking tour, we returned to the hotel, where I had dinner! Tomorrow is more exploring in the area! Can't wait!
