Iceland: Day 3 - Glaciers & More Rainbows/Waterfalls!

This morning we checked out of our little chalets and hit the road! Our first stop of the day was at a nearby waterfall that plunged off the side of the volcano that erupted in 2010. It was nice, but nowhere near as nice as the second waterfall where we stopped and got caught under a rainbow!

We also stopped along the way to check out the glacier on top of the volcano. We walked all around the glacier, which was no small feat, as it was very slippery (it is ice, after all!)! We drove on and eventually came to a gorgeous cliff side spot where puffins nest. We stopped for lunch, then made the long drive to a natural lagoon that was created by glacial runoff. This was actually the spot where they filmed the car chase scene in the James Bond movie "Die Another Day" which was all on ice. It was all broken up and we were able to take a boat ride in it and saw all sorts of icebergs. We also got to try a taste of 1000 year old glacier ice, which was surprisingly pure! We then made our way to our guesthouse for the night and will be having dinner in a few minutes!
