Iceland to Lithuania

After our final group dinner, we said goodbye to some group members and those of us who didn't have early morning flights went out for drinks. Gary, Alex and I had a late night, but a fun one, for sure.

The next day, most of the group departed, but there were four of us who didn't. Alex and I walked around Reykjavik all afternoon and for dinner the four of us ate at "The Pearl", a revolving restaurant at the top of a hill overlooking the city.

The following morning, I said a sad goodbye to Alex. It's always fun going on these trips, but they are made so much more special when you get a new friendship out of the deal. A couple of hours later I ha packed up and made my way to the airport for my trip to Lithuania, via Copenhagen. At the airport, I saw a sign that kind of summed up this trip to Iceland, with the weirdness and things just being a little off... It was a sign welcoming you to your fairy tale, asking you to indulge in eating lamb. Now, I'm not entirely sure which fairy tale mentioned slaughtering baby sheep, but apparently my parents didn't tell me that one growing up (thanks for saving me a therapy bill, Mom and Dad!). At any rate, it made me laugh, so I took a picture of it and thought I'd share.

The flight to Copenhagen was a touch over three hours long, and I enjoyed a book for most of that time. I had a two hour layover before my flight to Vilnius, Lithuania, which I spent in a crowded, yet comfortable lounge.

The flight to Vilnius took a little less than 1.5 hours. Again, I am in awe of how all my flights were on time, the flight attendants were courteous, and baggage arrived at my destination. It was just before midnight local time when I checked into my hotel, which is right across from Cathedral Square in the old town of Vilnius. What I saw of this town on the way in was very charming. I can't wait to explore it when the sun comes up in the morning! I'm missing friends, old and new, from the Iceland trip, but am looking forward to the next portion of this trip!
